Minute Message 12-10-23

Hey, this is your Chaplain again. And today I want us to consider what God said in Isaiah 28:23. “Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention to what I’m saying.” You know, the older I get the more parts of me stop working like they should. My hearing is a good example. Yes, I do have some hearing. But they sure don’t live up to their advertising. When I’m in a large crowd with many people talking – it’s tough. Because the hearing aid cannot distinguish between sounds. So, it just makes everything louder. It can be very frustrating, So I just don’t use them like I should. There are many times in my life when I wish I could turn off the background noise of this world. The clamoring sounds all around us can be so distracting. Sometimes all those crazy sounds keep me from really hearing God’s voice. Our verse from Isaiah gives us an important key, we are to “Listen and HEAR” God voice. We are to “Pay attention” to what God tells us. It’s not just hearing or knowing – it’s doing! God specifically tells us to listen and hear. While both words are verbs, they also imply that we should not only perceive God’s voice, but actually do whatever it is He tells us. What is God saying to you today? How can you tune out the distracting noise of today’s society and focus on the only voice that truly matters – His? Maybe that’s something for you to pray about.
